Starting in the summer of 2023, Mainichi Knotting will begin producing and selling sustainable chair mats made from leftover cotton yarn.

Kaihara Sangyo Co., Ltd. is known as the world's denim factory. By chance, the head of the company encouraged me to create a piece using leftover yarn, and while making sample products, I went through a process of trial and error to find the best yarn to use. I ended up choosing a slightly thick cotton yarn with a pale, soft color. Although it is a big burden to cut the thread, it is an attractive thread that is soft to the touch and has a glossy finish because it is made using chemical dyes and does not fade.
